THE VALLEY BOTTOM

This is the bottom of the valley.  In mid winter the camelback would be underwater because a small stream usually flows here after mountain rainfalls.

THE BISECTIONAL TRAIL

Most people do not realize that there is a trail that bisects the Aiea Loop Trail.  It is somewhat overgrown as you can see from picture.  The trail starts where the Aiea Loop Trail crosses the stream in the bottom of the valley. The trail follows the southern bank of the stream and then climbs up a central ridge which the Aiea Loop trail goes around.  If you like trails with little traffic this trail is for you.

THE LUSH VEGETATION ALONG THE STREAM

This is looking down stream in the opposite direction from the bisectional trail.  As you can see the vegetation is very lush and thick in this area.  This area can also be extremely muddy in winter.
