THE FIRST HILL

This is the first hill that one must climb along the ridge.  There are three large hills that one must climb before the steep climb to the summit.  The problem with these hills is that the ridge is like a roller coaster.  You give up all the elevation you worked so hard to gain.  In the background you can see the socked in summit.

NICE VIEW OF THE ADJACENT RIDGES

One can see the lush ridges which run parallel to the Hawaii Loa Ridge.  A few ridges over is the Kuliouou Ridge  which also has a trail that goes to the summit.
