RABBIT ISLAND

Kalanianaole Highway turns west and parallels the ocean.  At this point there is a spectacular view of "Rabbit Island."   If you look closely you can visualize a rabbit swimming in the ocean with his head out of the water and his ears folded back along his neck.

LOOKING WEST

A view of the windward side of the island.  Kalanianaole Highway heads west and parallels the ocean and passes Sea Life Park. 

MOKAPU PENINSULA

Off in the distance is Mokapu Peninsula.  The Kaneohe Marine Base is located on the peninsula.  Sea Life Park can be seen in the foreground.

THE TRAIL LEAVES THE HIGHWAY

The trail now turns east and heads up the rocky side of this large hill.   A person in a white shirt is ahead of me and following the trail.  The trail at some points is hard to follow but the vegetation is low which allows you to find it again.
