START OF THE MAKAPUU POINT TRAIL

Park on Kalanianaole Highway near this paved road.  If you want to go the begineers route take the paved road to the point.  Otherwise follow the highway north when the highway bends west you turn east heading up the side of a rocky hill.

PARKING ALONG SIDE THE HIGHWAY

This is a view looking north along the Kalanianaole Highway.  Just park along side the highway but make sure you come early so you don't have to walk a long distance.

LOOKING WEST ACROSS THE HIGHWAY

Looking west across the highway is the start of the Koolau Mountain Range.  You can see several cactus along the mountain side.   This area of the island gets less than 10 inches per year.

LOOKING SOUTH ALONG THE HIGHWAY

This is looking south along the highway.  Around 1 mile in this direction is Sandy Beach which is a popular body surfing area.
