TRAIL DIVIDES

The trail divides at this point.  To proceed to the falls one turns left and climbs back down the ridge to stream below.  The other trail is a connects to the Maunawili Demonstration Trail which goes from the Pali Highway switchback to Waimanalo. The Demonstration trail is around 8 miles long so if you decide to go all the way to Waimanalo be sure to have another car parked at the end of the trail.  The bench is for the rest climbing back out of the valley.  Climbing back out from the falls to the ridge is the most tiring part of the entire hike.

THE TRAIL DESCENDING TO THE VALLEY FLOOR

The trail descends to the valley floor below.  Stairs aid in the descent and ascent.  Be very careful if it has been raining because this area can be very slick.

LOOKING EAST ALONG THE TRAIL

The first peak of Olomana appears between the tree branches.   The other two peaks are hidden behind the trees.  There are many small eucalyptus trees along this hike.
